The ichikosucho scale is a major scale with an added flat 5th, eight notes catalogued from Japanese sources. The extra note bridges the 4th and 5th chromatically, letting otherwise plain major lines pivot briefly through a blues-tinged shadow. It behaves like a major scale with a built-in passing tone rather than an exotic mode.

Only the open B string is in scale, arriving as a perfect fourth, which means fretted shapes have to carry almost everything in this key. Seven flats in the key signature, so read this off the shapes rather than the page. Roots at fret 2 sit on both E strings. Handover comes at fret 6, and capo at fret 2 borrows E ichikosucho fingering.
