The bebop major scale inserts a chromatic passing tone between the 5th and 6th of the major scale. With eight notes, scalar eighth-note runs keep the 6th chord tones (root, 3rd, 5th, 6th) on downbeats, the Barry Harris approach to major harmony. It is the sound of polished swing era and bebop lines over major 6th and major 7th chords.
it consists of these notes and degrees:
I
II
III
IV
V

Same notes, different mode
Eb bebop major uses the same notes as the scales below. Start from a different note and you get a new mode built on the very same note set.
How to play E♭ bebop major on guitar
A capo on the 1st fret turns this into D shapes, which lets you borrow open-position fingering for a three-flat key. Three open strings belong, but none is the root or the fifth, so they work as colour instead of a pedal. Root at fret 1 on the D string. Lowest-pitched root waits at fret 11 on the low E, and the A shape sits at fret 6.
