The augmented heptatonic scale takes the symmetrical augmented scale and adds a perfect 4th, giving seven notes: root, sharp 2nd, major 3rd, 4th, 5th, sharp 5th, major 7th. The added 4th gives the symmetrical augmented sound a stepping stone toward conventional resolution. It suits maj7#5 harmony where you want both the exotic color and a smooth melodic line.

  • Treat Gb augmented heptatonic as the augmented scale plus a perfect 4th: keep the shimmer, gain a stepping stone toward resolution.
  • Arpeggiate the two augmented triads inside it, then use the 4th (B) as the pivot when you want the line to land.
