The minor bebop scale is natural minor with an added major 7th passing tone between the flat 7th and the root. The extra leading tone gives minor key runs the same smooth chromatic engine that the dominant bebop scale gives V chords. Eight notes, chord tones on downbeats, and an easy resolution onto the tonic minor.
it consists of these notes and degrees:
I
II
bIII
IV
V
bVI
bVII
VII
Same notes, different mode
F# minor bebop uses the same notes as the scales below. Start from a different note and you get a new mode built on the very same note set.
How to play F♯ minor bebop on guitar
Five open strings land in this key, among them A as the minor third and B as the fourth, so a drone bed is available without fretting. Capo at fret 2 converts everything to E, which means open-string voicings carry over intact. Outer roots sit low, at fret 2. First box shuts down at fret 6, so the second position arrives early in this key.
