The minor bebop scale is natural minor with an added major 7th passing tone between the flat 7th and the root. The extra leading tone gives minor key runs the same smooth chromatic engine that the dominant bebop scale gives V chords. Eight notes, chord tones on downbeats, and an easy resolution onto the tonic minor.
it consists of these notes and degrees:
I
II
bIII
IV
V
bVI
bVII
VII
Same notes, different mode
F minor bebop uses the same notes as the scales below. Start from a different note and you get a new mode built on the very same note set.
How to play F minor bebop on guitar
Both E strings ring the major seventh here and open G the second, so three strings can drone under a line, none of them the root. Root at fret 1 on both outer strings doubles with the E-shape barre, so a chord and its scale start from one position. Position one ends at fret 5. One fret of capo turns this into E, which means open-position licks are back in reach.
