The purvi raga scale is the frame of raga Purvi from Hindustani classical music, here an eight note set: root, flat 2nd, major 3rd, both the natural and raised 4th, 5th, flat 6th, major 7th. The two 4ths capture the raga's characteristic tivra madhyam inflection. Its solemn, twilight character is traditionally associated with sunset performance.
it consists of these notes and degrees:

How to play E♭ purvi raga on guitar
Every open string belongs to this key. Both E strings give the minor second, which means open ringing tightens against the root instead of settling under it. Capo fret 1 and the D fingering maps over, so you trade 5 flats for a shape you likely know. Roots sit at 1 on the D string and 6 on the A string. Nothing shifts before 15, which lets one position carry the whole box.
