The lydian #6 scale, the second mode of the neapolitan minor scale, sharpens both the 4th and 6th of a major scale. Two raised tones above a major frame push it past lydian into genuinely strange brightness, with an augmented 2nd gap between the 5th and the raised 6th. A rarity, best treated as a special-effect color over maj7#11 harmony.
it consists of these notes and degrees:
I
II+
iii
#IV
V
#VI
vii
Same notes, different mode
Eb lydian #6 uses the same notes as the scales below. Start from a different note and you get a new mode built on the very same note set.
How to play E♭ lydian #6 on guitar
Open G supplies the major third while open A takes the raised fourth, so a pair of strings rings in key with the root absent. A string fret 6 carries a root; another waits at B string fret 4. Faug sits as the II chord, which means an augmented triad belongs to the key rather than passing through. Capo fret 1 and the D shapes produce this key, so nut fingerings stay in play. Fret 15 ends the opening position.
