The minor bebop scale is natural minor with an added major 7th passing tone between the flat 7th and the root. The extra leading tone gives minor key runs the same smooth chromatic engine that the dominant bebop scale gives V chords. Eight notes, chord tones on downbeats, and an easy resolution onto the tonic minor.
it consists of these notes and degrees:
I
II
bIII
IV
V
bVI
bVII
VII
Same notes, different mode
C# minor bebop uses the same notes as the scales below. Start from a different note and you get a new mode built on the very same note set.
How to play C♯ minor bebop on guitar
Four unfretted pitches sit inside this key, the open A and B plus both E strings, giving pedal tones under a line even with no open root. A capo on fret 1 restates everything as C fingerings, so flat-key shapes you already own transfer straight across. Lowest root sits at fret 9, with the E-shape barre on the same fret, which lets grip and line share an anchor. Five sharps in the signature. Three semitones up, E bebop major duplicates the fingering, so one shape serves both.
