  • Over a plain major triad on C, the b6 (Ab) borrows harmonic-major darkness without leaving pentatonic fingering.
  • Keep the b6 (Ab) off strong beats under a major chord... as a passing shadow it is striking, sustained it argues with the 6th-less chord.

How to play C flat six pentatonic on guitar

Open G is the fifth here and open D the second, so a two-string drone sits ready under anything played from fret 8 up. Fretted roots also sit at 1 on the B string, 3 on the A, 5 on the G and 10 up on the D. Lowest-pitched root of all is the low E at fret 8, which is also where the E-shape barre lands, giving box one the four frets from 8 to 11. Same fingering serves Ab, 8 semitones up.
